We arrive on time, inspect your door, discuss any damage, and confirm your stain or paint color. We use Minwax semi-transparent oil-based stain and bring a full sample book plus all stain colors for convenient selection.
We remove the door hardware, carefully take the door off its hinges, and place it securely on sawhorses in the driveway or curbside work area.
A fitted drop cloth is installed over the entryway to help keep conditioned air inside and insects or debris outside.
We chemically strip the existing finish using a professional-grade stripping agent to remove old coatings.
The entire door is sanded, progressing from coarse grits through a smooth 220-grit finish.
The door is blown clean with compressed air, vacuumed, and wiped down to remove all dust before staining.
Two coats of your selected stain are professionally applied. Additional coats are used for larger wood projects such as garage doors, pergolas, ceilings, furniture, and antiques when appropriate.
Four coats of Marine Spar Urethane are sprayed with HVLP equipment. Between every coat we wet-sand — our exclusive step that creates a smoother finish, improves adhesion between coats, and delivers true multi-coat protection for maximum durability.
After finishing, we replace worn weatherstripping with your approval if replacement has been discussed.
The door is carefully rehung and aligned on its hinges.
All hardware is reinstalled. If you purchased new hardware, we will install it at no additional charge.
